Geocache Description:

This is a nice meandering dirt trail next to creeks and meadows most of the way. Great area to take your dogs, hike, jog, mtn bike or picnic with a couple tables in the area. Terrain is level with some gradual changes. Depending on the loop you take, the hike is anywhere from 2.5-3.5 miles round trip.

Take hwy 267 South from Truckee or North from Kings beach. The parking lot turn is located @ N 39.18.199 W 120.07.887. It is the Martis creek wildlife area. The turn can be a bit hard to see and is 1.2 miles from the 4 way stop light by the airport on 267 or 2.2 miles from the Northstar drive intersection. Turn is by the blue "Don't drink and drive" sign on the SouthWest side of the hwy. The parking area is down the dirt rd a couple hundred yards.Once there, the trail you need to start on leaves from the picnic table and heads South towards Northstar ski area. (The other trail will get you there, just longer). This cache is close to the trail. You can stay on the trail until you are within 120 ' or so before heading to the cache. The trail system loops around and there are several ways to choose your route. The cache is a small ammo box with a "dog, hiker" theme. When hidden the contents are:1 bag of 2 dog balls, 2 dog chew sticks, 2 6mm beaners, bandana,1 rescue whisle, one carmex lip balm, box of 4 AA bateries, and 2 packets of flower seeds and a log book.
