Seitseminen National Park Traditional Cache

This is the first geocache in Seitseminen National Park.

Seitseminen National Park is situated in Kuru and Ikaalinen area and has about 42 square kilometers of preserved nature and cultural heritage artifacts. It is located in a barren watershed area. The landscape of the park is dominated by extensive peatlands and forests. The bedrock of Seitseminen is barren and covered almost everywhere with moraine. The most valuable features of the park are the old virgin forests with their giant, old pines reaching the age of 400 years.

The best place to start explore the park is the Seitseminen Visitor Center where you can get information, maps and brochures of the services offered by the park and other Metsahallitus services. You can also read more about Seitseminen National Park on its webpages.

Good place to start the cache hunting adventure is Kovero Tenat farm. It gives you a picture of life in wilderness area of Seitseminen at the begining of 20th centure. The farm has been restored and furnished to its appearance in the 1930's. The cache is located nearby the old wooden mill in the eastern part of the park. You will follow by well-prepared marked trail, which goes through the heart of the park. The way to the cache is about 5.2 kilometers long. The cache is in middle-sized regular container, which initially consists of:

• Bob the Cache Builder travel bug
• Yellow marker
• Small-sized note stickers
• Eraser
• Terva sauna aroma oil

After you found the cache, please put it back in exactly same way as it was hidden before. To get a better impression you can make a round trip and go back through Haukilampi. In this way the whole trip become to be 13-16 km long depending from the way you choose. Please follow the rules of the park and do not go off the trail where it is prohibited.
