While I had my whole family geocaching with me, and we were
searching for another geocache, we stumbled onto this small
"island", and I couldn't resist putting a cache here. The initial
contents of this cache were a mini logbook and just 3 marbles (in
my rush to wrap it up and make it back to the parking lot in time,
I forgot to leave a WG$ or two). You'll need to bring along
something to write with. Make sure you mark some points along the
way, because the seemingly shortest way back to the parking lot
from here became the long way back with swampland we couln't pass
:^). All of us (10-years to senior citizens) got on and off the
island without incident, so it is possible, but I wouldn't
recommend it for younger kids. The whole fun is just getting there.
The cache itself is a film canister which isn't really hidden to be
a hard find. Make sure you log your adventures for this one. I'll
enjoy reading them. Have fun!
Additional notes on 2004-04-24: DO NOT PUT ANYTHING (except
maybe folded wheresgeorge bills) IN THE CACHE. I think the last
logbook I had got wet because there was too much stuff in the
cache, and the lid wasn't closed properly. Also, if you used more
than 1 log to cross to the island, than make this a difficulty 5
instead of a 4. On occasion, this may be the only way across
because the difficulty 4 log may be under water. This secondary
bridge is not recommended for anyone except risk-takers or those
who are slightly crazy. Please be extremely careful if you choose
this method of crossing!
More notes on 2005-04-19: I reiterate, DO NOT PUT ANYTHING
(except maybe folded wheresgeorge bills) IN THE CACHE. I
visited the cache today and found it stuffed with all kinds of
stuff, so I'm sure it wasn't properly closed at one point because
it was overstuffed at one point. Keep this as a log only cache,
please. I won't be replacing it again if it gets wet. Also, due to
an increase in the roads being constructed in the area, it's much
easier to reach the cache crossing area than when it was orignally
placed.
Notes on 2006-03-10: OK. I've enjoyed some of the stories for
this cache, so I decided to replace it again, and see how long it
lasts this time. Remember to replace it EXACTLY as found, and
inside both ziplocks. Please leave the one marble for Gilligan!
