It is above Donut Falls and steep in sections. The last section is steep and not a good idea for young children, although they would love the nearby falls with its unique shape. If there has been snow or rain, the difficulty and terrain probably rate 4 stars each--Be careful! In the early spring and late fall, make sure the gate will be open before driving into the trailhead parking lot. There's also roadside parking.
We knew the Doughnut Falls cache was already nearby, but we couldn't resist a tribute to our favorite family, the Simpsons. Now there are two caches spelled differently than the actual Donut Falls.
You must hike up and around Donut Falls to the cache. The view is great up there; the canyon is beautiful anytime of year! There are many good paths that lead above and beyond the falls, but please do not attempt to climb up from the actual falls if you are at all worried about scrambling up the slick, bouldery area. We've done it and enjoyed it, but it's not for everyone. The actual hike to the view of the falls is easy and safe--appropriate for all ages. The coordinates should get you close, but we were getting only 20-30 ft accuracy. The hide is a bit tricky, some greenery conceals it well. The hint will help if you need it.
The cache has a Simpsons theme; do your best to bring a Simpson's item. But we put in a few other things too, and we will stop by periodically with more Simpson's stuff. Trade small--it's a smallish tupperware container with a purple lid that is packed to the gills to begin with.
