HickoryBill: This cache has made it through a fire and was still going strong. Since the fire, the undergrowth has just taken over the area. It is just too difficult to get to GZ now. Time to say good-bye to this old timer.

The cache is located north of Clear Spring, MD and a little more than a mile off Hanging Rock Road. It is in the Hearthstone Mountain area.
This is our first cache and we chose this site because we felt that more caches were needed in this area. This is a popular hunting area; but, mostly during deer season. The cache is well hidden from hunters; however, not too difficult for the trained eye of an experienced geocacher. We used an ammo can for the cache. We recommend parking at N 39 41.920 W077 58.703. From this small parking lot, follow the trail to the cache. Shortly after beginning your hike, you will come to a junction in the trail. Trust your GPS to follow the correct trail. The cache is .22 miles from the parking area, as the crow flies, and about .5 miles following the trail. Please, no food in this cache. Also, please make every effort to conceal this cache before leaving. While in the area, why not try to locate the cache, Rescue Mountain.
