Geocache Description:

Three roadside signs on highway 27, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, southwest South Dakota.

Tribal conflicts are not confined to Africa, the Middle East or Northern Ireland. The Clash of Cultures that began when Europeans started exploring and settling the western hemisphere has continued to the present day in our country.

In 1890 and 1973, violent deaths occurred in this area. If the circular museum building is open, you can see and hear a presentation that you are unlikely to find in the mainstream media. Learning how different observers view an event may help us resolve the continuing conflict. At the very least, it may help us understand why a solution has been so elusive.

To log this cache, email me the answers to the following questions. All sites are located along the highway.

North: N 43 12.761 W 102 20.118
Who surrendered near here?

Central: N 43 08.467 W 102 21.767
What type of dancing was no longer done after 1890?

XX South: N 43 02.862 W 102 22.615
How many years are included in the actions described on the east side of the panel? As of June 2007, this panel is gone. You can fulfill the requirements with just two sites, the North and Central.
