A little out of the way spot of an important Civil War battle.
This is a nice quiet location of a Civil War battle. It is a little out of the way, but very worth the trip.
The coordinates will take you to the original highway marker that has been relocated to inside the memorial grounds.
Please note that the hours are restricted to daylight visits only...the gates will be locked at dusk (with good reason). I'm told that after dark you can sometimes see partial re-enactments of the battle by the original participants.
Pleas e-mail the full date of the battle, the name of the Confederate General who led the Indian Brigade, what the third name from the bottom of the dedication plaque is. If you did not visit this site, you will not be allowed to log this cache.
Please take time to walk the entire park to read all 10 plaques and both markers. A lot of history here.
And if time allows check out the trail down to the river.
