Geocache Description:

From Hwy 395 turn on Eastlake Blvd. Then turn on Jumbo Grade. High clearance vehicles and or 4x4 needed for this location.

In 1907 Gold and Silver was discovered in the area known as the Jumbo District (West Comstock). A small town was established. The town consisted of a Post Office, Grocery Store, Hotel, assay office and of course some saloons. The town was known as Jumbo Nevada. Between 1909 and 1915 one 5 stamp and two 10 stamp mills were built. Unfortunately the mills were shut down around 1912 due to the low-grade material to keep the mill in operation. The remains of the mill foundations can be seen about a ¼ mile down the valley on the left, from the Cache location.
