Coordinates are for the Post Road exit off of Highway 5, by MSP Int'l Airport. From the exit, go towards the river, or away from the airport, and follow the signs down to Fort Snelling State Park.
This event was planned as kind of a meet-and-greet between the MNGCA and the Minnesota State Parks. Even though the placing of physical caches is currently banned in Minnesota State Parks, we still enjoy many other activities available, and we are working towards getting the ban lifted. As a sign of good faith, we as Geocachers are going to spend some time picking up litter in a popular State Park in the metro area--Ft. Snelling State Park. Work permits for vehicles will be available, as well as some trash bags--bring your own gloves, litter sticks, and extra trash bags. We'll meet at 10am. A social activity will follow--plan A is a picnic at one of the pavilions, and plan B is going to someplace nearby to eat, drink, talk about geocaching, etc. (plan B is because without shelling out a reservation fee, pavilions are first come, first serve, and we all know how Minnesota weather is this time of year). Alas, we found out about CITO day after we already had a date set for this event--hopefully everyone will have some personal CITO war stories to share. If you can't make this event, stay tuned--there is a Carver Parks clean-up in the works for next month, as well as a possible National Trails Day event in June. So come one, come all, and remember to Cache In, Trash Out!!!
