This is a quick and easy cache to get to, accessible via auto or the bicycle trail that runs right past it. Be careful, this area can be very busy at times.
In the 1920's, a singular event took place in Rondout that catapulted this tiny hamlet to the front pages of the nation's newspapers. Start your visit to this cache site by reading the nearby plaque to learn about the fascinating incident that occurred here years ago; it still holds a place in the record books!
Because traffic can be heavy in this area, dogs and small children will need to be watched carefully, and that could make it hard to look for the cache. The container is just large enough for logbook and pencil.
After you've found it and logged in, spend some time looking around town. It's nearly impossible to spend any time in this location without seeing a train pass by, and this is a mecca for midwest railfans. There's a lot of interesting activity here, and I'm sure you'll agree that Rondout remains a very unique place!
