Geocache Description:

This cache is a historical marker in the sleepy town of Pikeville, NC. Right off of NC 117. There are a few different methods of approach. Nestled between Fremont and Goldsboro.

This is a historical marker that kind of looks like an old tombstone that has been bricked in and surrounded by a little fence.

It describes a crime perpetrated by a hedgerow bandit on that site many years ago. The victim was a local minister. In order to get credit for this cache, please email me the name of this minister and his date of death. Apparently it took him a while to die.

Pikeville is a pretty small town nestled between Fremont and Goldsboro on Highway 117. I haven't seen any caches in the area, so I thought it would be an interesting, out of the way, place to visit. They have the Wayne County Raceway and Drag Strip, and you might be able to catch an amateur wrestling event at the local high school. It's small town fun for the whole family. Enjoy!
