Geocache Description:

These woods are located next to the paved regional trail from Fish Lake to Elm Creek Park Reserve.

mirkwood
Long ago when this land was still a part of Middle Earth there was a great kingdom of elves in the great forest of Mirkwood.  Once spanning the state from north to south this small patch is all that is left.  While the elves are long gone this small patch of woods is still home to those that hunt with the bow, except they are of mortal kind.  Little do the residents of Maple Grove know that in these woods a dragon egg has been dormant for millenia, nearly dying out... yet the recent mild winters have given it new strength, and Amitas has hatched!  Please bring Amitas to the Dragon's Keep in Utah so he can learn from the mechanical dragons how to be a benevolent creature rather than a horrible scourge on humanity like his father Smaug was.

To get to the cache:

This cache is located close to the Elm Creek Regional Trail, a paved trail between Fish Lake Regional Park and Elm Creek Park Reserve.  You can either get to the cache from this trail or park at the parking lot on 73rd Place, just off of West Fish Lake Road.

About the area:
These woods are open to bow hunting during the season and are owned by Three Rivers Park District.  They are next to the paved regional trail that runs from Fish Lake park to Elm Creek Park Reserve.  One can take this trail through Elm Creek park and ride East to the Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park.  When I placed this cache I saw four deer between the main trail through the woods and the cache site.

What's in the cache:
    - Fireman toy
    - Hot Wheels Car
    - McDonald's Toy
    - A piece of Christmas "Candy" (not real candy) from Centris' Christmas Candy cache.
    - Medabot Toy
    - Music to Shag By tape from Little Cache on the Prairie
