Legend has it a few years ago Santa crashed into this tree on
a stormy Christmas eve before being rescued by an athletic
young woman who helped Santa on his way. The complete story of
Santa's crash is documented in Santa's Lost Toy Bag.
This special and historic tree now has it's own cache allowing
you to stop by and visit this piece of history. Due to the
construction of a dog park, Santa's Tree is now fenced in.
Thankfully they preserved this historic tree. To find the cache you
must read this entire description.
Locate the magic snowflake and make note of the secret word. To
qualify for the find you must email me the secret word. Please do
not post it in your log or I will have to delete the log. No need
to bring a trade item for this cache. There is nowhere to leave it,
but the other caches in the area do have places to trade
things.
The best parking for this cache is at N 35 05.177 W 080 48.292.
The best route is probably a direct one. When you reach the fence
you will see Santa's Tree just inside the fence. It's a large and
very noticable tree. To find the magic snowflake, you DO NOT
NEED to enter the fence. While looking at Santa's tree turn
around, and with your back to the fence take a bearing of 230
degrees and walk approximately 13 paces. Look for the magic
snowflake and the secret word.
