Le clocher de traVER(T)s de Pierrefitte Traditional Cache

       

L’église Saint Amâtre

Pierrefitte-ès-Bois, petite commune de 305 habitants, dans le canton de Gien, au nord du Pays Fort, est le point le plus élevé du Loiret (273 m) et abrite l’église Saint Amâtre depuis bientôt 1000 ans.

• Les colonnes, chapiteaux et arcades du chœur ont des ressemblances avec ceux de la nef de la Basilique Saint-Benoît (l’abbaye de Saint-Benoît possédait des terres dans la région).
• La « chapelle du Seigneur » a été ajoutée à la fin du XVème siècle avec ses deux fenêtres de style gothique flamboyant. 
• Le portail occidental en pierres et la baie de l’abside dénotent la présence de style renaissance. 
• La voûte en bois de la nef a été démolie vers 1950 et remplacée par un faux plafond.
• Le beffroi et le clocher de 42 m ont été construits au XVIIème siècle. Le beffroi à trois niveaux est une disposition peu commune dans la région. Le clocher a reçu deux coups de foudre au XXème siècle : en 1905 et en 1960. Celui-ci présentait un devers de 1.5 m depuis plus d’un demi-siècle jusqu’à sa rénovation en 2021.
• Le versant sud est couvert de tuiles plates et le versant nord, d’ardoises naturelles, ce qui crée un déséquilibre statique dans les charpentes.

L’église de Pierrefitte-ès-Bois est vouée à Saint Amâtre – ou Saint Amateur – évêque d’Auxerre de 386 à 418. Ce dernier est connu pour avoir accompli de nombreux miracles et guérisons, dont l'une à Pierrefitte. Un grand tableau datant du XVIIe ou du XVIIIe siècle représente Saint Amâtre en bas de la nef de l’église.

Pourquoi "VERT" ?

Ma première cache posée (GC3VHY2) était une boîte verte, avec un stylo vert, un log book vert et des objets d'échange verts. Ainsi est née l'idée de placer les caches qui ont suivi sous le signe du "VERT" et de proposer un challenge consistant à y déposer de préférence des objets "VERTs". Ce challenge ne peut malheureusement pas concerner les caches de taille nano ou micro.

     

Pierrefitte-ès-Bois, a small town of 305 inhabitants, in the district of Gien, north of the Pays Fort, is the highest point of the Loiret (273 m) and hosts the church Saint Amâtre for almost 1000 years.
Undoubtedly built at the place where stood the "Petra Ficta" (stucked stone) which gave its name to the village, late 11th or early 12th century, it presents different remarkable elements and has long intrigued by its leaning steeple.

• The columns, capitals and arcades of the choir have similarities with those of the nave of the Saint-Benoît Basilica (the abbey of Saint-Benoît owned lands in the region).
• The "chapel of the Lord" was added at the end of the 15th century with its two flamboyant Gothic windows.
• The western stone portal and the apse bay denote the presence of Renaissance style.
• The wooden vault of the nave was demolished around 1950 and replaced by a modern ceiling.
• The belfry and the 42 m bell tower were built in the 17th century. The three-level belfry is an unusual arrangement in the region. The bell tower received two strokes of lightning in the 20th century: in 1905 and in 1960. This one had a 1.5 m inclination for more than half a century until its renovation in 2021.
• The south roof is covered with flat tiles and the north roof, with natural slates, which creates a static imbalance in the frameworks.
  

The church of Pierrefitte-ès-Bois is dedicated to Saint Amâtre – or Saint Amateur – bishop of Auxerre from 386 to 418. The latter is known for having performed many miracles and healings, including one in Pierrefitte. A large painting dating from the 17th or 18th century depicts Saint Amâtre at the bottom of the church nave.

My first geocache ( GC3VHY2) was a green box, with a green pen, a green log book and green items for exchange. So is born the idea to place the caches which followed under the sign of the "VERT" ("GREEN" in French) and to propose a challenge consisting in dropping there rather "VERT" items. This challenge cannot unfortunately concern the caches in nano or micro size.
