The new Tainan City Library will officially open on January 2, 2021
The new main building has two underground floors and six above-ground floors. It was jointly designed by a team of Taiwanese and Dutch architects and adopts silver-level green building standards. The inverted stepped facade design is a display of the image of a big tree, which projects outward from bottom to top layer by layer to create a large amount of shaded space. The totem of the top facade grille is taken from the window grille pattern of old houses in Tainan, using modern materials to show the memory of the old times and connect Tainan’s history and prospects.

臺南市立圖書館新總館，於2021年1月2日正式開幕
新總館為地下2層、地上6層建築物，由臺、荷建築師團隊共同打造，採銀級綠建築標準。倒立階梯式立面設計，是大樹意象的展現，由下而上逐層向外出挑，創造出大量遮陰空間；最上層立面格柵的圖騰，取材自臺南老屋窗花紋樣，以現代材料展現舊時代的記憶，連結臺南的歷史與展望。
