Chong'an Temple was originally built during the Eastern Jin Dynasty (364 AD), boasting a history of over 1,600 years and standing as one of Wuxi's oldest temples. Initially named "Xingning Temple," it was renamed "Chong'an Temple" in the Song Dynasty. Although the original temple structures no longer exist due to historical changes, its name and cultural significance as the symbolic heart of old Wuxi endure. The surrounding area still bears its name and has developed into a thriving commercial district.
The cache is located in the City Center Park, also known as Gongyuan (Public Garden). Established in 1906 and expanded over the years to its current form, it is one of China's earliest modern public gardens, earning the title "China's First Public Park." Remarkably, the park has never charged admission since its inception. For over a century, it has served as both Wuxi's urban emerald and a witness to countless social events. In 2006, the City Center Park was designated as a Cultural Relics Protection Unit of Jiangsu Province.
Something you should know before Geocaching in China
Due to China's national surveying and mapping regulations, maps provided by Chinese platforms adopt the GCJ-02 coordinate system, which has a 300-500 meter deviation from the internationally recognized WGS-84 coordinate system. This means locations displayed on official apps' Google Maps/satellite views are offset. However, OpenStreetMap or your GPS device remains reliable.
