A Pseudotsuga (Pseudotsuga menziesii) ou abeto-de-Douglas, é uma conífera originária da América do Norte, introduzida em Portugal para produção florestal. Pode ultrapassar os 50 metros de altura e tem um tronco robusto, com casca espessa e folhas em forma de agulhas suaves ao toque. O que mais caracteriza esta espécie são as pinhas icónicas.
Nos Baldios de Vilarinho, esta espécie é valorizada pelo seu rápido crescimento e madeira de qualidade, mas principalmente pela beleza natural que proporciona.
Este povoamento florestal pode ser adjetivado com as palavras Sombra, Frescura e Encanto. Merece mesmo ser visitado! Em pleno inverno, quando neva, a beleza natural desta mancha florestal duplica!

The Pseudotsuga (Pseudotsuga menziesii) or Douglas fir, is a conifer native to North America that was introduced to Portugal for forestry production. It can reach heights of over 50 metres and has a robust trunk with thick bark and leaves in the shape of needles that are soft to the touch. What most characterises this species are its iconic pine cones.
In the Baldios of Vilarinho, this species is valued for its rapid growth and quality wood, but above all for the natural beauty it provides.
This forest stand can be adjectivised with the words Shade, Freshness and Charm. It really deserves to be visited! In the middle of winter, when it snows, the natural beauty of this patch of forest doubles!
