La Commune #1
Pour cette première cache consacrée à La Commune, je rends hommage à un couple de communards du 11e arrondissement : Louise Talbot et Augustin Avrial. Un parc a été nommé en leur honneur en 2021 pour les 150 ans de la Commune.
- Le couple Avrial et Talbot
Augustin Avrial et Louise Talbot ont été un couple de militants ouvriers. Ils ont notamment participé activement à la Commune de Paris. Il s’agit d’une insurrection qui dura 72 jours, du 18 mars au 28 mai 1871. Tout comme les communes de Lyon et de Marseille, elle refusa de reconnaître le gouvernement issu de l'Assemblée nationale constituante, et choisit d’organiser le fonctionnement de la ville sur la démocratie directe. Ce mouvement a été réprimé violemment, et s’est terminé après la Semaine sanglante.
Habitants du 11e arrondissement, Augustin, travaillait comme mécanicien à l’usine Étienne Lenoir et Louise était lingère. En avril 1870, ils signent tous deux le Manifeste contre la guerre déclarée à la Prusse par l’Empereur Napoléon III. Après la proclamation de la République le 4 septembre 1870, Augustin devient commandant du 66e bataillon de la Garde nationale. Il est ensuite élu au Conseil de la Commune du 11e arrondissement et a participé à la défense du quartier du Château d’eau. Contraints à l’exil, Louise est incarcérée et Augustin, alors à Londres, est condamné à mort par contumace. Amnistiés en 1880, ils continuent leur vie militante, Augustin entamant une carrière d’inventeur qui le conduit à déposer différents brevets dont une machine à coudre pneumatique ou encore un motocycle à pétrole. Ils sont enterrés au cimetière du Père Lachaise.

Ce parc a été ouvert en 2019, on y accède par la rue Bréguet ou la villa Marcès. D’une surface de 300m2 environ, il est très apprécié pour son calme. Les aménagements invitent au repos et à la contemplation. On y trouve aussi un espace de jeux d’environ 150m2 avec un toboggan et une structure où les enfants seront heureux de grimper.
Sa conception est faite pour favoriser l’absorption de l’eau de pluie et donc lutter contre l’imperméabilisation des sols, problématique importante des milieux urbains face au réchauffement climatique.
Attention, ce jardin est un espace non-fumeur, les jeux de ballon et les chiens n’y sont pas autorisés.

For this first cache devoted to La Commune, I pay tribute to a couple of Communards from the 11th district: Louise Talbot and Augustin Avrial. A park was named in their honor in 2021 to mark the 150th anniversary of the Commune.
- The Avrial and Talbot couple
Augustin Avrial and Louise Talbot were a militant working-class couple. They were active participants in the Paris Commune. This insurrection lasted 72 days, from March 18 to May 28, 1871. Like the communes of Lyon and Marseille, it refused to recognize the government of the National Constituent Assembly, and chose to organize the running of the city on the basis of direct democracy. This movement was violently repressed, and came to an end after the Bloody Week.
Residents of the 11th arrondissement, Augustin worked as a mechanic at the Étienne Lenoir factory and Louise was a linen maid. In April 1870, they both signed the Manifesto against Emperor Napoleon III's war with Prussia. After the proclamation of the Republic on September 4, 1870, Augustin became commander of the 66th Battalion of the National Guard. He was then elected to the Council of the Commune of the 11th arrondissement, and took part in the defense of the Château d'Eau district. Forced into exile, Louise was imprisoned and Augustin, then in London, was sentenced to death in absentia.
Amnestied in 1880, they continued their militant life, Augustin embarking on a career as an inventor that led him to register a number of patents, including a pneumatic sewing machine and a petroleum-powered motorcycle. They are buried in the Père Lachaise cemetery.
This park was opened in 2019, and is accessed via rue Bréguet or villa Marcès. With a surface area of around 300m2, it is much appreciated for its calm. The landscaping invites you to rest and contemplate. There's also a 150m2 play area with a slide and climbing structure.
The garden has been designed to help absorb rainwater, thereby combating soil impermeability, a major problem in urban environments in the face of global warming.
