Geocache Description:

10 May 2024, 17:30 - 19:00

The Golden Hill Community Garden was set up in 2012, and has flourished since then.  Wednesdays are the regular volunteer days and anyone is welcome along between 10-4.

The garden is used and appreciated by the local and not so local community.  Events include an annual Spring fayre; September harvest fayre; November bonfire event; Christmas wreath making workshops; numerous children's groups; and a few raised beds available to rent to local organisations.

We have 2 poly tunnels, wooden pagoda, lots of raised beds, a straw bale house, well with solar powered pump, pond and an edible forest area.

The garden is wheelchair accessible including our compost toilet. We have long handled tools that can be used if required.

Since the last CITO here in 2023, those weeds have hidden in the ground all winter and waited for the cold to pass. Warmer weather and spring showers and they've raised their heads and are trying to take over the garden paths again.  Join me in another battle of the weeds.

Tools will be provided, but if you'd like to bring your own gloves that would be wise as I can't guarantee the cleanliness of our gardening gloves.

Hot/cold drinks and biscuits will be provided.

Limited parking is available on the lane behind the prison. There may be some space in the allotment car park but that can't be guaranteed.  Plenty of space for bicycle parking. Bus stops on Gloucester road. (Nevil road stop)

The garden is located at the bottom of Horfield Allotment site. The best way to access is to turn off Gloucester road by the Golden Lion pub, onto Cambridge road and follow the prison wall up Clevedon road. Ignore the main allotment site gate, turn right into the lane behind prison and enter by gate on your left
