Geocache Description:

18 July 2024, 13:00 - 16:00

18th July - Journeying into the Jungle

Parking: There are lots of options for parking, see the relevant waypoints. Rea Lane is very narrow and so if you would prefer not to worry about parking then Sims Lane may be easier, if a bit of a longer walk to get to the meeting point. If you do attempt Rea Lane and find both suggested parking areas are full then you will need to park further up the lane and walk down.

Where:  Find us at Suggested Parking 1 waypoint at 1300, or use the waypointed trail ahead for the main path, at the reference point you will need to turn either left or right depending on how far along the paths we have got at previous CITOs. If you are attending after the time then I will push out an annoucment to tell you which way to turn.

What: We will be either: Clearing dead trees from the sides of the paths, clearing back any brambles encroaching onto the path or collecting plastic guards which will then be used at another site project. All of this will depend on previous CITOs. I will look to confirm exactly what we are doing the day before our CITO.

How: The warden will be there providing guidance. We ask you to bring your own gloves and if you have them tools, so if you have loppers and a shears please do bring them along. Don't worry if you don't have them as the warden will have a supply too, but we will need you to log that you require tools.

If it has recently rained the site does tend to hold water and so wellies are advised.

Health and Safety: The session and will be covered by Gloucester County Council insurance as long as you are working under the warden's instruction.

Please make sure you bring along your own refreshments.

Dogs: This is a nature reserve with Swan's nesting on the pond, in addition to wild deer roaming the area. If your dogs are reactive to wildlife then they unfortunately are not able to come to this site.
