C’est cantonné dans l’abri sûr de la cave de la Maison Forestière d’Ors que Wilfred Owen a passé sa dernière nuit. Il est alors lieutenant dans l'armée britannique. C’est également là qu’il a écrit la dernière lettre à sa mère, empreinte d’un optimisme aussi bienveillant que forcé. Sa mère apprendra le décès de son fils le jour où les cloches annonçaient la fin de la guerre.
