The litter around here, it would seem, is infinite. On February 29th we tried, and failed, to tackle it. But we're coming back.
Meet at 5pm at New Barnet Station (outside the ticket office) to do battle with the litter. This will be a battle of the like not seen in these parts since the original Battle of Barnet in 1471.
Bags and litter pickers will be provided, and this time Barnet Council are also involved and will pick up the full bags after the event.

Round #1 of this battle against litter was only a few weeks ago. The recent Leap Day CITO at New Barnet train station was met with great success (as my wheelie bin will attest to).
But we had some problems.
Firstly, there was the toilet cistern that was pulled from the bushes. My wheelie bin couldn't take that, and so the cistern was left where it was found. To this day it reminds all passers by that they should have gone to the toilet before setting out for the train station. But as much as it serves this useful community function, it has to go.
And then there was the fact that there was just too much litter, for too little time, and for too little wheelie bin space. This is despite the fact that we had 30-odd people that attended on that occasion.
So it's time to return to the field of battle. See you there!
