Froggy Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

OCCD: What a long and strange trip it was yesterday. I published this event near a "Large" container thinking I could grab that before the event before heading further North. I had a goal in mind on Leap Day. It included finding a Large, hosting an event, and grabbing an EC, Wherigo, CITO, Letterbox, Multi, and Virtual. Except for the CITO I had two or three of every icon listed above on my cache run route. Good thing I did that because I had to abandon the nearby Large due to a pint-size yiping dog that alerted its owner. Think Gladys Kravitz on steroids.

After my event four of us headed to a traditional place behind the restaurant. Once again Mr. Oblivious didn't realize there was a cache just beyond the parking lot which had several favorites. Anyhoo, I located it. I give it to one of my Geocaching Cohorts to sign the log sheet and she just signs her name. I said, "Hey Lefty, You have a problem adding my name?" to which another cacher said, "You got problems with Lefties?", which I replied, "What are the chances that four cachers go for a find and three of them are Southpaws?" Really strange, and definitely a first in my caching career. (See what I did there? I'm highlighting how important geocaching is to us.)

Okay, adding to the strangeness I abandoned the first Large, basically DNF'd the second Large, cut short the second event to go back to the second Large with a new geocaching Cohort and we picked up a Multi on the way back to the Large. Winner-winner one icon thinner! Add to this excitement we find the Large.

I then travel 45 minutes further North to grab the closest Virtual I need for the day. Then it's an hour and 15 minutes back to the next event. Mr. Unobservant may have gotten a Virtual in 2020 or 2016. The jury is still out on that one.

After spending two hours to get the Virtual I needed to pick up the pace because I was burnin' sunlight and still needed several icons after attending the CITO.

I accomplished everything I set out to accomplish today, not that any of it went according to plan, but somehow it happened.

So, if you're still reading this it's a long-winded archive posting. I'm so happy a week after this event was published that mmc881 said he would attend. I knew I wouldn't be drinking my coffee alone. Then Justin said he would stop by and I thought to myself, "I'm no golfer, but bowlers lose fewer balls than golfers." (Full disclosure: I'm no bowler either). Two days ago several people marked "will attend", and even more just showed up. Here's the thing, when I arrived this morning I told the waitress there might be 10 people for breakfast with our group, it turned out to be closer to 18 I believe. She was super excited because Thursdays are typically a slow day.

People always tell me when I show up to events that I'm far away from home, but this is why I love caching in Michigan. You guys rock and support local businesses!

I apologize again for the long-winded archive message. I've been fueled mostly by caffeine and almonds. Waitaminute...

...no apologies! I meant every word I said.

Just for clarification I am Mr. Oblivious and Mr. Unobservant in the above comments.

Geocache Description:

29 February 2024, 08:00 - 09:00

For cachers feeling froggy is to feel ambitious, or doing more than expected.

Many cachers will be going on a cache run today that might include an icon run, or specific container, or maybe several just for the numbers.

I'm starting out early with coffee to discuss a plan of action with other like minded individuals. Share your latest adventures or upcoming plans. Stay for a few minutes, or the entire time. Leap on over to Leo's and join us.

11020 Highland Road, Heartland, Michigan
