Geocache Description:

10 February 2024, 12:00 - 13:00

First Aid Information Session Pre Event 12pm - 1pm (unlimited)

Geocaching is a favourite activity for all of us, however it is not without its risks. Hiking through the bush, climbing a tree, or even reaching into a cache hide, can all result in unexpected trouble. Being prepared and knowing what to do in the event of an injury or emergency is an important skill to have, and one to add to your caching TOTTs. .

This event is open to all geocachers and is a chance to socialise as well as share your war stories and tales of when you may have been the giver or receiver of first aid. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch along.

Information will also be available at the event for those who may be considering completing a formal first aid course at a later date.

Further details of this event are listed below…

  • Start: Saturday 10th February, 2024 @ 12:00pm

  • End: Saturday 10th February, 2024 @ 1:00pm

  • Location: Bayswater Train Park, Bayswater

  • Will Attends: Please log a "Will Attend" ahead of time, so we have an idea of how many to expect.

First Aid Information Session 1pm - 4pm (Limited to 20 people - ticket required)

We are very pleased to have partnered with First Aid Trainer Darren Mannix (Omegaman1971) and Healthguard First Aid Training Services to provide a free First Aid Information Session to a limited number of geocachers following the social event.

20 geocachers will have the opportunity to move to the nearby Healthguard offices for a complimentary 3hr session on First Aid. The discussion will cover topics such as:

  • First Aid Principles
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Bleeding Control
  • Envenomation (Bites and Stings)
  • Fractures, Dislocations, & Soft Tissue Injuries

Importantly this is an Information Session Only, and will not result in any formal qualification or certification at the conclusion of the session nor will it attest to your ability to perform the skills demonstrated. It will however provide you with information and the opportunity to practice some important first aid skills.

Due to the limited places available, you must obtain a free ticket from the link below to attend the 1pm session. If you already have First Aid qualifications, we ask that you leave these limited spots to others who don’t. This component is not a social activity and is limited to serious ticket holding participants only.

BOOK YOUR TICKET HERE

If at any time in the lead up to the event you are no longer able to attend, please contact ahomburg@geocachingvictoria.com.au or one of the committee members so that we can reallocate your ticket.

Geocaching Victoria is a not-for-profit incorporated body that seeks to promote the pastime of geocaching in the state of Victoria. It is governed by committees of enthusiastic geocachers who volunteer their time and energy for the advancement of geocaching in Victoria. Collectively we aim to inspire great geocaching experiences, promote knowledge sharing and development, foster and grow the geocaching community, and help to showcase the best Victorian geocaching experiences to geocachers both from within and outside of the state.

We host small and large scale events and CITOs around Victoria as well as supporting others who also hold events around the state. We are constantly looking for opportunities to develop new and exciting ideas that can aid and enhance the geocaching experience of anyone within the state of Victoria.
