De part et d'autre de la plage de sable de Tourony, les rochers constitués de granite rose à gros cristaux montrent de nombreuses traînées sombres qui dessinent toute une variété de figures courbes évoquant dans tous les cas des structures d'écoulement magmatique. Ellipses, volutes, tourbillons, rubans et autres formes complexes se disputent ainsi le terrain, s'emboîtant ou se recoupant parfois entre elles en fonction de la géométrie spatiale et du découpage naturel des blocs de granite rencontrés sur l'estran.
Ces différentes figures rubanées, parfois regroupées sous le terme d'origine allemande de schlieren, sont essentiellement constituées de biotite, mica noir qui se retrouve par ailleurs à l'état de petits cristaux généralement isolés dans la masse du granite.
Elles sont interprétées comme la marque des déformations et des mouvements plus ou moins visqueux de la matière en fusion séjournant au sein de la chambre magmatique, avant qu'elle ne s'y fige en refroidissant. Il s'agit donc de ségrégations minérales bien particulières qui témoignent encore aujourd'hui de l'origine magmatique de la roche granitique, près de 300 millions d'années après sa cristallisation à plusieurs kilomètres de profondeur au sein de la croûte terrestre. A l'échelle du massif, ces ségrégations s'observent uniquement dans la couronne périphérique, à proximité du contact avec le socle gneissique dans lequel le granite rose s'est mis en place.
On either side of the sandy beach of Tourony, the rocks made of pink granite with large crystals show numerous dark streaks which draw a whole variety of curved figures evoking in all cases magmatic flow structures.
Ellipses, volutes, swirls, ribbons and other complex shapes compete for the terrain, sometimes interlocking or intersecting with each other depending on the spatial geometry and the natural division of the granite blocks encountered on the foreshore.
These different ribbon figures, sometimes grouped under the term of German origin of schlieren, are essentially made up of biotite, black mica which is also found in the state of small crystals generally isolated in the mass of the granite.
They are interpreted as the mark of deformations and more or less viscous movements of the molten material staying within the magma chamber, before it freezes there as it cools. These are therefore very specific mineral segregations which still testify today to the magmatic origin of the granite rock, almost 300 million years after its crystallization several kilometers deep within the earth's crust. On the scale of the massif, these segregations are only observed in the peripheral crown, close to the contact with the gneissic basement in which the pink granite is emplaced.
