The Chilihouse (well, at least one of us...) will be waking up with a bucket of coffee in the obvious place, to celebrate the winter solstice.
We'll make sure that we have something caching related on our table to help you recognise us.
Today could be seen as important for geocachers, as hereafter, the days start to get longer, so for those of us who don't often go night caching, this gives us the opportunity to spend longer caching and attempt longer walks.
The winter solstice (also known as the hiemal solstice, hibernal solstice or midwinter), occurs when one of the Earth's poles has its maximum tilt away from the Sun. The winter solstice is the day with the shortest period of daylight and longest night of the year, when the Sun is at its lowest daily maximum elevation in the sky.
The actual time of the 2023 winter solstice in Hampshire is 03:27, but we will not be up and about at this early hour!
You can also, of course, bring along any trackables you have for swapping or discovering.
