Geocache Description:

30 December 2023, 15:30 - 16:00

Gluhwein on a Crag - a HillGorilla idea.

We're back again for our fifth year - come and join us to enjoy a mug of Glühwein, a mince pie and a great view (and hopefully a sunset).

Myself and my good friends eavesclan welcome you to join us for a drink of Glühwein up high above Calderdale on the Crags at Albert Promenade, which is in the Savile Park area of Halifax, where hopefully we will see the sun setting over Calderdale for one of the last times in 2023.

So come along, onto the crag, share good cheer, friendship, a good natter about all things Geocaching (and otherwise) and raise a drink to friendship and adventures new in the coming year. Hopefully we will catch the golden glow of the sun, as it drops, with the golden glow of Glühwein warming you from the inside.

smileyWe shall provide the welcome, the Glühwein and the mince pies in exchange for a donation.

smileyPlease bring your own cup, mug, tankard, glass or beaker.

smileyAll are welcome, be you from Yorkshire, or further afield.

smileyThe event will last from 1530 to 1600, on the 30/12/2023, though if the weather is dry, we'll likely be there a bit longer.

smileyThe welcome will be good, and the Glühwein will be warm.

smileyFestive attire is not essential, but is encouraged.

smileyAn alchohol-free alternative will be available for those driving, or who are under 18, or who don't wish to have alcohol for any other reason.

smileyThe terrain rating of this event is for those who venture out onto the crag itself - particularly if the weather is wet as it can be quite treacherous.

As we did last year, we will be asking for donations - this is to cover the cost of the gluhwein and mince pies.  Once costs are covered, any excess will be donated to Piratemania.

It would also help us from a catering point of view, if you would please log a will attend if you plan to join us, and to also indicate in your log whether you wish to have alcohol-based Gluhwein, or the alcohol free alternative.

Be aware that the event is taking place near to an exposed crag with drops, so you need to be able to look after yourself. If you bring a child or animal please keep them close to hand for their own safety.

The caching community in West Yorkshire is a friendly one, so whether you are an experienced cacher or new to the activity, come along, everyone is welcome.

Halifax is well served by the motorway nearby and access to the location is easy to get to - if you need directions, please ask.  If you are new to events, or just to the area, mention it in your log and we will look out for you.

A quick note regarding TB's - you are more than welcome to bring them and exchange amongst yourselves - but none of the CO's will be taking anything home with us.  Please exchange TB's amongst yourselves - there will not be a drop off box for this event.
