Geocache Description:

19 November 2023, 12:00 - 12:30

This is the 26th of the Dartmoor Tors monthly events as announced and discussed in the Dartmoor Geocaching FB group and was classed as one of the "remote" tors. This has to be one of the easiest of the remote tors being just 2km (1.25 miles) from the nearest parking near Bagga Tor, two thirds of which is along a flat gravelled track before veering off to climb the tor. The biggest problem will be parking at the car park at Bagga Tor which probably can only hold 5-6 cars. Please try to arrange car sharing or if you are intending to do a long circular walk then please try to park somewhere else.

We have not had the greatest attendance for these "remote" tor events in recent months but neither have we had the best of the weather! Here's hoping for some good weather on the day and it would be great to see as many of you as possible!

As discussed these events will alternate between "remote" tors, more than a mile from the nearest logical parking and "more accessible" tors, less than a mile. As winter will be fast approaching, we will once again limit future "remote" events in distance from the nearest parking.

At each event the location for the event 2 months ahead will be chosen. All events will be held on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 12:00 noon. This will allow for the events to be incorporated into a much longer walk should you so decide.

PARKING: I have added a waypoint for the parking at Bagga Tor but it is not very big. There is very little parking along the lane leading to Bagga Tor but there is some at Wapsworthy, but please don't block the gates into the field.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a Military Training Area on which live firing and other pyrotechnics may be used. The area is generally open public access. One of the safety rules for public access is:- Do not, (and ensure that children do not) approach, touch or pick up any metal objects lying on the ground. Please obey all bylaws and locally posted information concerning times when the area may be closed. These may be physical barriers, marker posts, flags, lights or manned control posts.

Please remember that the weather on Dartmoor can change suddenly and unexpectedly and ALL types of weather conditions can be experienced. Please ensure that you have the correct clothing.
