To celebrate Dr Who’s Diamond (60th) Anniversary I will be holding this event at the Toby Carvery, Redhill on Thursday 23rd November 2023 between 5 and 5:30pm, which was the day and time that the original episode ‘An Unearthly Child’ was aired on BBC One in 1963, and the rest of course is history!
I have also chosen this location as during 1977 I saw Dr Who and The Invasion of Time (the sixth and final serial of the 15th season) being filmed in the nearby (but now demolished) St Anne’s Hospital. This was due to an industrial strike at the BBC, which resulted in mobile studios being set up in the buildings that my friend’s father was the caretaker of. After filming the cast (including Tom Baker) and crew would walk the short distance down St Anne’s Drive and relax in the Lakers Hotel (now known as the Toby Carvery). Please note that there will be lots of caching talk, an event log to sign and a container for TBs, however, unfortunately due to the event's location it is unsuitable for large trackables!
