[DE] Viele Menschen auf der Welt kennen die geheimnisvollen kolossalen Steinköpfe auf den Osterinseln, die Moai. Noch immer weiß die Geschichtsforschung nicht genau, wann sie von wem zu welchem Zweck errichtet wurden. Man nimmt an, dass sie zwischen ca. 1000 und 1700 von den polynesischen Einwanderern für kultische Zwecke aufgestellt wurden, denn alle stehen mit dem Rücken zum Meer und blicken auf (ehemalige) Siedlungen (Wikipedia).
Kaum jemand kennt ihre hölzernen Verwandten, die auf einer Anhöhe bei Kirchdorf stehen. Im Rücken haben sie den phantastischen Weitblick auf Haag und die Alpen, doch sie bevorzugen es, den nahen Waldrand im Blick zu haben. Im Gegensatz zu den Moai weiß man aber, wer sie geschaffen hat: Franz Eder aus Maithenbeth. Trotzdem wirken sie sehr geheimnisvoll und bei einem Sonnenuntergang an einem lauen Sommerabend mag man sich durchaus auf die Insel Rapa Nui in der Südsee versetzt fühlen.

[EN] Many people around the world are familiar with the mysterious colossal stone heads on the Easter Islands, the Moai. Historical researchers still do not know exactly when they were built, by whom, and for what purpose. It is assumed that they were erected by the Polynesian immigrants for cult purposes between about 1000 and 1700. All of them have their backs to the sea and look on (former) settlements (Wikipedia).
Hardly anyone knows their wooden relatives, which stand on a hill near Kirchdorf. In the back they have the fantastic view of Haag and the Alps, but they prefer to have an eye on the nearby edge of the forest. In contrast to the Moai, however, we know who created them: Franz Eder from Maithenbeth. Nevertheless, they seem very mysterious and at sunset on a mild summer evening you may well feel dislocated to the island of Rapa Nui in the South Pacific.
