Geocache Description:

The cache is not located at the given coordinates, which are where I parked when I hid the cache (that will help anybody who wants to brute-force the cache without solving the puzzle).

On Wednesday evening, Traveling Ladybug mentioned that she sure would like to go see this show. Well, that's not going to happen, though I did sign up for a Country radio station's mailing list just on the chance that I could win their last giveaway on Thursday. And, of course, it didn't happen for us, but I thought maybe I can at least make a cache for you.

The Tom Swift series of books was started in 1910 and featured a young scientist who went on adventures involving rocket ships, ray-guns, and other things he had invented. The author, Victor Appleton, notably went out of his way to avoid repetition of the unadorned word "said" by using a different speaking verb or adding adverbial words and phrases. The Tom Swifty thus became a parody of this style, typically incorporating a pun. For example, "I am stuck inside this diamond necklace," said Tom independently. Unfortunately, I don't think I've found ones that are as creative for this puzzle, but if you think you have better ones, feel free to post them in your logs!

  • "I'm the only one of me," she said uniquely.
  • "But what can I say?," she wondered speechlessly.
  • "I mean, this is exhausting," she bemoaned wearily.
  • "All I know is you held the door," she maintained chivalrously.
  • "I take my time," she noted watchfully.
  • "All there's left to do is run," she ventured dashingly.
  • "You're being too loud!," she shouted deafeningly.
  • "My pennies made your crown," she proclaimed majestically.
  • "They'll tell you I'm insane," she ranted crazily.
  • "At teatime, everybody agrees," she conceded harmoniously.
  • "So, why can't you see?" she asked blindly.
  • "Say you'll remember me," she mused unnforgettably.
  • "Got nothing in my brain," she blathered absentmindedly.
  • "It was one drink after another," she babbled drunkenly.
  • "Echoes of your footsteps on the stairs," she reiterated repeatedly.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

Special Notes about the 2023 Puzzle Challenge: To be considered for Fastest Solver points, you must verify your solution with Certitude. Finders will receive Top Finder points when submitting Found It logs to the cache page. All "point" scoring is arbitrary, subject to change, at the discretion of the cache owner, and probably completely meaningless (unless you just want to be announced sooner at the celebration party, which will probably happen in Spring 2024). The real challenge is to see whether I can keep from getting so frustrated by submitting caches that I decide to quit! To maintain fairness, hints should not be offered by the cache owner or other solvers until the fifteenth of the month.

Special Notes about this month's puzzle: Terrain shouldn't be too bad this time of the year, but there's evidence that it might get tricky if it's been raining a lot.
