Geocache Description:

Construite au XII^e siècle, la Chapelle Saint Cado présente un portail occidental du XVI^e siècle, ainsi qu'une nef, des bas-côtés et un chœur de l'époque romane. Vous pourrez notamment admirer une Piéta du XVI^e siècle, ainsi qu'une série de vitraux datant de 1960 et réalisée dans les ateliers d'Hubert de Sainte-Marie, célèbre maître-verrier.

L'édifice primitif est construit en granite de Belz-Crac'h.

La roche, à grain fin, légèrement porphyroïde (feldspaths proches de 1 cm), à biotite, est pauvre en muscovite (minuscules paillettes). Saine, elle offre une teinte grise avec une faible nuance bleutée ; altérée (cas le plus fréquent), elle revêt une coloration jaune-beige.

Certaines pierres de la Chapelle présentent de curieuses figures, le fond jaune-beige de la roche étant réhaussé de cernes plus foncés d'hydroxydes de fer dont la formation est due à la lente percolation de sollutions ferrugineuses à partir des diaclases (fractures de la roche).

Built in the 12th century, the Chapelle Saint Cado has a western portal from the 16th century, as well as a nave, aisles and a choir from the Romanesque period. In particular, you can admire a Pieta from the 16th century, as well as a series of stained glass windows dating from 1960 and made in the workshops of Hubert de Sainte-Marie, a famous master glassmaker.

The original building is built in Belz-Crac'h granite.
The rock, fine-grained, slightly porphyritic (feldspars close to 1 cm), biotite, is poor in muscovite (tiny flakes). Healthy, it offers a gray hue with a faint bluish tint; altered (the most common case), it takes on a yellow-beige color.

Some stones of the Chapel present curious figures, the yellow-beige background of the rock being enhanced by darker rings of iron hydroxides, the formation of which is due to the slow percolation of ferruginous solutions from joints.
