Complexo das Piscinas Olímpicas do Funchal/ Funchal Olympic Swimming Pool Complex
O Complexo de Piscinas Olímpicas do Funchal foi inaugurado a 25 de setembro de 2004, “sendo considerado pelos especialistas da natação nacional como um dos mais modernos e sofisticados do país e ao nível dos melhores da Europa no seu género” (SILVA, Avelino, 2015). Apesar de denominadas por alguns, como piscinas da Penteada, as mesmas, estão localizadas no sítio dos Álamos, na freguesia de Santo António.
The Funchal Olympic Swimming Pool Complex was inaugurated on September 25, 2004, “being considered by national swimming specialists as one of the most modern and sophisticated in the country and at the level of the best in Europe of its kind” (SILVA, Avelino, 2015). Despite being called Penteada pools by some, they are located at Álamos, in the parish of Santo António.
Esta infraestrutura, dispõe de quatro piscinas: (I) piscina olímpica (50mx10 pistas/readaptável em 2 piscinas de 25mx20 pistas), (II) piscina de saltos para a água, (III) piscina de 25m e (IV) um tanque de aprendizagem, o que permite a prática e competição de todas as disciplinas de natação desportiva. Disponibiliza ainda, de todo o tipo de necessidades que impõem-se à prática de natação, quer a nível amador ou a nível profissional. No exterior, conta com vários parques de estacionamento, boas acessibilidades e transportes públicos.
This infrastructure has four pools: (I) Olympic pool (50mx10 lanes/readable into 2 pools of 25mx20 lanes), (II) swimming pool for diving, (III) 25m pool and (IV) a learning tank , which allows the practice and competition of all sports swimming disciplines. It also provides all kinds of needs that are necessary for the practice of swimming, whether at an amateur or professional level. Outside, it has several car parks, good accessibility and public transport.
Este complexo de piscinas tem como objetivo, captar provas nacionais e internacionais e assim, pôr a Ilha da Madeira no mapa a nível da natação profissional. Também procura responder à procura interna. Apesar do objetivo internacional, foram poucas as provas que até então, realizaram-se. Registam-se até então, seis competições internacionais: (I e II) os Multinations Youth Meet em 2005 e 2006, (III) o Open Internacional de Masters de Inverno 2015, (IV) o Campeonato Europeu de Natação Adaptada em maio de 2016, (V) o Europeu de juniores femininos de Pólo Aquático -Women’s European Under 19 WPC 2018 e (VI) o 10º Campeonato Mundial de ‘Paranatação’ 2022. Esta última competição, de cariz olímpico, em 2022, a Swimchannel titulou, “Madeira está na história do desporto adaptado a nível mundial”.
This pool complex aims to capture national and international competitions and thus put Madeira Island on the map in terms of professional swimming. It also seeks to respond to internal demand. Despite the international objective, there were few tests that took place until then. So far, six international competitions have been registered: (I and II) the Multinations Youth Meet in 2005 and 2006, (III) the International Winter Masters Open 2015, (IV) the European Adapted Swimming Championship in May 2016, (V) the European Junior Women's Water Polo Championship -Women's European Under 19 WPC 2018 and (VI) the 10th World Para-Swimming Championship 2022. This last competition, of an Olympic nature, in 2022, Swimchannel titled, “Madeira is in the history of adapted sport worldwide”.

Esta multi-cache tem como objetivo, dar a conhecer o Complexo de Piscinas Olímpicas do Funchal e algumas das suas especificidades.
- Evite procurar a cache nas horas de mais movimento, normalmente, entre as 17h e as 19h30, devido à confusão de atletas a entrar/sair e à dificuldade para estacionar. O trânsito também é intenso. Contudo, se assim pretender, não há problema.
- A cache pode ser visitada a qualquer hora. Porém, dada a dificuldade, é aconselhável a visita diurna.
- É necessário trazer consigo material de escrita.
This multi-cache aims to make known the Funchal Olympic Swimming Pool Complex and some of its specificities.
- Avoid looking for the cache during peak hours, usually between 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm, due to the confusion of athletes getting in/out and parking difficulties. Traffic is also heavy. However, if that's what you want, no problem.
