Due to its popularity last year and several requests to do it again, here it is:
A DAY ON THE ISLAND - 2023
The above coordinates will bring you to the City parking lot in front of Plaunt Transportation. Plaunt Transportation is the only ferry that services Bois Blanc Island. We plan to meet around 7:00 AM. There, we will stage, plan and socialize. We will then catch the 8:00 AM ferry to Bois Blanc Island for a day of riding the trails. There are coincidentally about a dozen caches on the island. If we happen across one (or all) we will probably have time to stop and investigate. The ride is fairly easy going, but you will need an ATV, Side by Side, Dirt Bike/Enduro etc. The roads on the back side of the island are far too narrow for a car or pick-up truck. If you choose to join us, make sure you have a full tank of fuel and bring other necessities such as snacks, drinks, bug spray, GPS etc. Unless it has rained recently, it will be a dusty ride, so expect that (dust mask/goggles?). I would like to be back to the dock for the 3:00 PM sailing. The very last trip of the day for Plaunt Transportation leaves the island at 5:00 PM. I would prefer to save the 5:00 PM sailing as a last resort only. We don’t want to risk getting “stuck” on the island.

Plaunt Transportation will take reservations. It is HIGHLY recommended to call ahead and reserve a space on the boat for you and your vehicle. Otherwise, if the ferry is full and you do not have a reservation, you will have to wait for the next available ferry. Also, they now accept credit cards. However, if you use a credit card there will be a 3% surcharge. Cash is always good. If time allows after the ride, there is a restaurant just down the road from the dock.
