This is the 128th KT event, and we celebrate the King - nothing to do with the Royal family this time - you can raise your glasses to the beautiful Kingfisher, as you sit by the canalside on a sunny summer evening.
Event details - Tuesday 13th June, Kingfisher, Greenfield. Menu
The event will keep to the well established KT formula of food, drink and geochat. At 8pm there should be a few pings on phones at which point we will head out for a little leg stretch. As we will be sat by a gentle canal you could be forgiven for dreaming of an easy, flat walk. Think again, this being an MiB event, you can expect to go up, up up in search of the best views in the area (a sample view is provided below). People would be disappointed with anything less!
KT events are open to all, they move around a wide area and mainly attract local people in the areas they visit, so we encourage anyone to come along - even if you've never attended an event before. I have currently reserved an area of the pub for 20 people, please log a will attend in good time so I can raise this number should the attendance be higher. Food and drink is available but there is no obligation to spend with the venue.
Be aware - this is a very welcoming pub, but due to rail commuters abusing the free parking, the pub have recently introduced a pay and display parking system where you must pay up front for the time you wish to stay and you can claim your parking back against purchases of over £5. I have asked at pub and they confirm that even if you pay for 6 or even 24 hours of parking, it would be refunded on spends over £5. However, if you prefer to park for free, or you don't wish to spend that amount in the pub, street parking is available very close by for free, see the waypoints.
Access -
By car, there is a car park, it is pay and display, refunded if you spend more than £5. Also free street parking at waypoint closeby.
By train - Greenfield station is virtually outside the pub, which is located on the busy Huddersfield line so quite good rail services available.
By canal boat. The pub is directly on the Huddersfield Canal. Frenches Wharf Marina is behind the pub.
