Maker Magic: Manistee Magic Maker Workshop Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Holmer4Manistee: Thanks to everyone who came out for the weekend. We did a great job getting all the HIKE-orama! caches and it was nice to end with a souvenir event from HQ. It came at a good time as we had just archived, retrieved and re-painted all the winter social caches... so there was plenty of "blank canvases" to decorate. I'm especially looking forward to all the new cricket hides that will be coming to our local areas!!!

Geocache Description:

25 June 2023, 12:00 - 13:00

Manistee Maker Magic Workshop

Learn how to make high quality geocache hides and get a souvenir from HQ.

Lesson 1: Improving the quality of your hide with a creative container.

After a short presentation showing high quality local cache hides that are favorited based on creative containers (such as, Noah's Ark GC92JF6 and Grandma's Kitchen GC92JH2), we will create two different types of creative cache containers:

1) There are over a thousand dna tube hides in Michigan. While these type of hides are great for those playing the number game, they are not really a creative or high quality hide. This Maker Magic event will show you how you can spend less than an hour of your time and turn these dna tubes into the popular and favorited cricket hides.

2) With more hides than can be counted of throw down pill bottle hides in Michigan, this Maker Magic event will also show how you can spend less than an hour to turn these pill bottles into creative hides from use of decorations and whimsical names for the cache title.

NOTE: All cache creation supplies will be provided by the host for each participant. Please, wear craft making clothes as you will be painting, gluing and spray-painting your own caches. All participants will be expected to make a cricket hide and a creative pill bottle container to take home with them and hide in their local area.

Lesson 2: Improving the quality of your hide with a creative location.

While waiting for the paint and glue to dry, there will be a second short presentation showing high quality local hides that are favorited because of their location (such as Top of the World GC92T9M and Ghosttown of Pleasanton GC9VQ9V). We will also review GeoCaching guidelines for creating and hiding a cache.

Following the event, there will be an optional outing to visit two highly favorited and high quality cache hides within walking distance: Magnetic attraction GC9TMTC (a great example of Lesson 1: high quality container) and Manistee Pier Lighthouse GC9P57F (an awesome example of Lesson 2: location quality)
