Bienvenue à Palavas-les-Flots! Magnifique station balnéaire du sud-est de la France, située sur la côte d'Améthyste, située à environ 6 km à vol d'oiseau au sud de Montpellier et à 10 km par la voie rapide RD 586. Le territoire communal est implanté en bordure du golfe d'Aigues-Mortes, secteur septentrional du golfe du Lion, qui est, lui-même, une partie de la mer Méditerranée. La partie émergée du territoire est composée de cordons dunaires séparant deux étangs (de l'Arnel à l'ouest et du Méjean à l'est) et la mer. L'agglomération principale, marquée par la présence de l'église et de la rue piétonne, se situe au débouché d'un fleuve côtier héraultais, le Lez, au croisement de celui-ci avec le canal du Rhône à Sète qui relie le Rhône à l'étang de Thau. Vers l'est, la ville se prolonge le long de l'avenue Saint-Maurice, jusqu'à la commune de Mauguio et sa station balnéaire de Carnon-Plage et, vers l'ouest, en direction de Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone et de Frontignan. ENGLISH Welcome to Palavas-les-Flots! Magnificent seaside resort in the south-east of France, located on the Amethyst coast, located about 6 km as the crow flies south of Montpellier and 10 km by the RD 586 expressway. The municipal territory is located in edge of the Gulf of Aigues-Mortes, northern sector of the Gulf of Lion, which is itself part of the Mediterranean Sea. The emerged part of the territory is made up of dune cords separating two ponds (Arnel to the west and Méjean to the east) and the sea. The main agglomeration, marked by the presence of the church and the pedestrian street, is located at the outlet of a Hérault coastal river, the Lez, at the intersection of this one with the Canal du Rhône à Sète which connects the Rhône at the Etang de Thau. To the east, the city extends along the avenue Saint-Maurice, to the town of Mauguio and its seaside resort of Carnon-Plage and, to the west, in the direction of Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone and of Frontignan.
