About Werribee Station
Werribee railway station is the terminus station for the Werribee line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the western Melbourne suburb of Werribee and was opened on 25th June 1857.
The station was opened by the Geelong and Melbourne Railway Company as part of the line bridging the 2 cities.
In 1927 it was heavily damaged by fire. Once renovated the bluestone walls were rendered and a new low pitch roof was added.
In 1968 the line was duplicated between Laverton and Werribee
On the 11th June 1979 a goods train derailed at the station. The extensive damage to the platforms and also the staion building on Platform 2 (which is now 3) to be rebuilt.

In 1983 the line to Newport was electrified and the current island platform was created.
The station is due to be upgraded in 2023.
