STORIA
La città di Recco, situata in Liguria, è stata abitata in epoca pre-romana dalla popolazione dei Casmonati e dei Liguri. I romani la conquistarono e la fondarono come Recina o Ricina, divenendone un importante castrum romano sulla Via Aurelia. Durante l'Alto Medioevo venne costruita una pieve ambrosiana, assegnata al vescovo di Milano. Nel Medioevo e in epoca moderna la città fu proprietà della Repubblica di Genova, che la eresse come nuova podesteria e dal 1513 come sede di capitaneato. Durante la seconda guerra mondiale la città subì gravi danni dai bombardamenti aerei degli alleati, causando 127 vittime civili e distruggendo oltre il 90% dell'abitato urbano originario. Per tale episodio storico la città è stata insignita della medaglia d'oro al merito civile con decreto presidenziale del 1992.
CUCINA
Recco è famosa per la sua cucina ricca di specialità sia dolci che salate, alla base della gastronomia genovese e ligure. Viene definita "capitale gastronomica della Liguria". Tra le specialità tipiche c'è la famosa Focaccia col Formaggio di Recco, che ha ottenuto l'I.G.P. (Indicazione geografica protetta) e si distingue per i suoi ingredienti e tradizione secolare. Altri piatti noti sono i pansoti con salsa di noci, le trofiette, i corzetti stampati, e le focaccette al formaggio.
TRADIZIONI
Il 7 e 8 settembre si tiene la "Sagra del fuoco" a Recco, il festival pirotecnico più importante di tutto il nord Italia, una manifestazione in onore della Madonna del Suffragio dove i sette quartieri cittadini allestiscono spettacoli pirotecnici e sparate di antichi mascoli. In dicembre si tiene la tradizionale manifestazione del confuoco in cui il sindaco della città insieme ai cittadini di Ponte di Legno bruciano l'alloro in piazza del Municipio. L'evento culmina con l'accensione dell'immenso abete offerto dalla città gemellata e la consegna delle specialità di Ponte di Legno.
SPORT
La città di Recco è famosa per la sua squadra di pallanuoto, la Pro Recco, che milita nel campionato maschile di Serie A1 e ha vinto 34 scudetti, 15 Coppe Italia, 10 Coppe dei Campioni e 6 Supercoppe Europee. È l'unica squadra italiana ad aver vinto il grande slam (Campionato, Coppa Italia, Coppa Campioni, Supercoppe Europea) e la squadra più titolata al mondo in questo sport. La Pro Recco Rugby milita in Serie A e ha concluso al primo posto le stagioni 2012/2013, 2014/2015 e 2015/2016, perdendo la finale per la promozione. La Pro Recco Tennis milita in Serie B2 (promossa nel 2021) e ha ottenuto ottimi risultati sia nel singolare che nel doppio. La Pro Recco Basket milita in serie D e nella stagione 2013/2014 ha disputato i campionati giovanili Under 15, Under 17 e Under 19. A Recco c'è anche il Club Amici Vela e Motore (C.A.V.M) con sede sul lungomare Marinai d'Italia, fondato nel 1908 e un'associazione interna chiamata Reccovela. Il calcio non ha avuto grande fortuna a Recco, ma ci sono altre società come la Pro Recco Judo, che è una delle migliori realtà nazionali in questa disciplina.

HISTORY
The city of Recco, located in Liguria, was inhabited in pre-Roman times by the population of Casmonati and Ligurians. The Romans conquered it and founded it as Recina or Ricina, becoming an important Roman castrum on the Via Aurelia. During the High Middle Ages an Ambrosian parish was built, assigned to the bishop of Milan. In the Middle Ages and in the modern era, the city was owned by the Republic of Genoa, which erected it as a new Podesta office and from 1513 as the headquarters of the captaincy. During the Second World War the city suffered serious damage from Allied aerial bombardments, causing 127 civilian victims and destroying over 90% of the original urban settlement. For this historic episode, the city was awarded the gold medal for civil merit by presidential decree in 1992.
KITCHEN
Recco is famous for its cuisine rich in both sweet and savory specialties, the basis of Genoese and Ligurian gastronomy. It is defined as the "gastronomic capital of Liguria". Among the typical specialties there is the famous "Focaccia col Formaggio di Recco", which has obtained the I.G.P. (Protected Geographical Indication) and stands out for its ingredients and centuries-old tradition. Other well-known dishes are the pansoti with walnut sauce, the trofiette, the corzetti, and the cheese focaccette.
TRADITIONS
On 7 and 8 September the "Sagra del fuoco" is held in Recco, the most important pyrotechnic festival in all of northern Italy, an event in honor of the Madonna del Suffragio where the seven city districts set up fireworks displays and shoots of ancient mascoli. In December, the traditional demonstration of confuoco is held in which the mayor of the city together with the citizens of Ponte di Legno burn the laurel in Piazza del Municipio. The event culminates with the lighting of the immense fir tree offered by the twin city and the delivery of the Ponte di Legno specialties.
SPORT
The city of Recco is famous for its waterpolo team, Pro Recco, which plays in the Serie A1 men's championship and has won 34 championships, 15 Italian Cups, 10 Champions Cups and 6 European Super Cups. It is the only Italian team to have won the grand slam (Championship, Italian Cup, Champions Cup, European Super Cup) and the most successful team in the world in this sport. Pro Recco Rugby plays in Serie A and finished in first place in the 2012/2013, 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 seasons, losing the promotion final. Pro Recco Tennis plays in Serie B2 (promoted in 2021) and has achieved excellent results in both singles and doubles. Pro Recco Basket plays in Serie D and in the 2013/2014 season it played in the Under 15, Under 17 and Under 19 youth championships. In Recco there is also the Club Amici Vela e Motore (C.A.V.M) based on the Marinai d' seafront Italy, founded in 1908 and an internal association called Reccovela. Football hasn't had much luck in Recco, but there are other clubs such as Pro Recco Judo, which is one of the best national realities in this discipline.
