Smouldering and Scorching Salix
Parking: Suggested parking is in the car park at the provided coords, there is a footbridge to take you over to Horsbere. Or if there is space you can park by the gates leading in to the brook (alternative parking).
Where: Meet by the main gate at 0930 (alternative parking coords) or find us in the pond (posted coords), use the trail ahead to get on the right side then look out for the flag.
What: We clear willow annually to prevent it taking over the flood storage pond. Join us as we continue the work done in previous CITOs clearing the willow and also burning our previous collected piles. We shall be working closest to the farm track.
How: The Countryside Ranger will be there providing guidance. We ask you to bring your own gloves and if you have them tools, so if you have loppers and a saw please do bring them along. Don't worry if you don't have them as the ranger will have a supply too.
You most definitely will need your wellies and if you have waders even better.
Health and Safety: The session and will be covered by council insurance as long as you are working under the Countryside Ranger's instruction.
Please make sure you bring along your own refreshments as it can be thirsty work!
