Pipelines and waterways, both continuous for long sections, provide an excellent opportunity for a scenic network of bikeways. Along the way are plenty of people walking and fishing, too.
The pipelines provide an impressive area-wide steam network punctuated by pressure releases at regular intervals. Pressure valves are typically equipped with a spring-loaded mechanism. The valve is held closed by a spring, which applies a force to keep the valve tightly shut. As the pressure within the pipeline increases beyond the set limit, it overcomes the spring force, causing the valve to open partially or fully, allowing steam to escape.
