Geocache Description:

This cache is ONLY available between sunrise and sunset.

Your journey begins at the published coordinates.

A prayer labyrinth is not a maze. There are no tricks, no traps or dead ends. There is simply an entrance, a circuitous route to the center, and a way back out. The wandering one does along it's path can facilitate prayer or meditation that brings mental focus, a sense of peace, even spiritual transformation.

You are invited to experience any and all of these sensations at the published coordinates. Come and encounter this ancient spiritual practice, then enjoy a short walk in the woods and earn a smiley!

The Path to the Cache

To find the geocache, exit the labyrinth to the south and follow the trail into the woods (trailhead coordinates provided). In approximately 100 feet, just before the end of the trail, you will find a replica of the church you passed on the way to the labyrinth. The cache "around the back" of the church.

Although it is not required to claim a find on this cache, feel free to leave your thoughts about the labyrinth and the cache in the logbook. Also, posting photos of the labyrinth in your online log are welcome (but also not necessary).

A True Letterbox

Along with the regular log book and swag, this cache is a letterbox-hybrid. It contains a specialized stamp, an ink pad, and stamp log. If you own a stamp and enjoy trading letterbox stamp imprints, please log your stamp into the letterbox stamp log and use the labyrinth stamp for your own logbook.

About the Replica

The church replica was built in the summer of 2022 by the cache owner as a labor of love and a gift to both Salem United Methodist Church and to the geocaching community.

Permission was granted by Salem United Methodist Church for the placement of this cache. The church invites the public to experience the labyrinth and the prayer path during daylight hours. Local police patrol the church grounds frequently, day and night. They know about the cache and when geocachers are supposed to be on the site and when they are not, so please observe this restriction.
