A mid Sunday morning CITO litter pick to help Long Lane and Newark Road get rid of rubbish
The event will run from 10am - 12pm
Why here? Both Long Lane and Newark Road are susceptible to rubbish tossed from vehicles. This is because they are a cut through route to miss off the Newark bypass and both roads are the optimum mileage and distance from several of the fast food outlets around Newark. Why would people waste time stopping to put the rubbish in a bin when they could just toss it and make it someone elses' problem?
Also, we live in the village and are part of an active local community who have arranged a litter pick for this day. And we thought, we'd make it a CITO as well. Especially as a CITO isn't that common of an occurrence around these parts.
Please bring the following with you:
- Suitable footwear and clothing
- Gloves
- A litter picker, if you have one
I will provide:
Children are welcome to take part but should be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Dogs are welcome too but should be kept on a lead. Everyone takes part at their own risk, although accidents and incidents are unlikely if we're careful and sensible.
Come along prepared to spend a while clearing the area and removing the litter. Although this is mostly in the form of cans, wrappers, crisp packets etc, it is important to be careful and vigilant when picking up litter. If you see anything that you're not sure of then don't touch it! Call someone else over and we can decide together what to do about it.
At the end of the CITO, we will remove the rubbish collected and dispose of it.
Plenty of parking is available on Front Street outside the pub and further in to the village.
