It's not unusual to hold events in Bothies but in Northumberland those events tend to be held at rather inconvenient times (such as midnight) to suit those staying overnight. So this event will be held at a Bothie at lunch time in summer and, as attending will require a two mile walk (or bike) each way on a forest track, it should provide a pleasant and energetic day's outing.
More information about Bothies in general and this one in particular, which is called simply "Green" can be found on the web page of The Mountain Bothies Association. Bothies are open to all and guarantee little more than a roof over your head and probably a stove but they are lovely old buildings carefully renovated and maintained by the Association.
You will need to take all your own food and drink, though the EO will be distributing energy-boosting sweetmeats! There may also be one or two caches to pick up on the way!
Parking is available at the end of the road heading northish from Whygate. It is a public road with one gate. There is space for several cars on the left just as you pass through the forest boundary. Cars are not allowed to go further,
