En 2019 pour le lancement de son projet « Beyond Walls », Saype m'a demandé si je pouvais lui prêter le Champ de Mars pour quelques semaines et j'ai bien évidemment accepté.
Le projet « Beyond Walls » montre des mains entrelacées, qui se tendent, se serrent et s’unissent dans un effort commun par delà tous ces murs qui séparent les humains et les enferment dans un espace mental ou géographique.
Ainsi, les murs érigés dans les mentalités se révèlent n’être que des cloisonnements fictifs que l’imagination artistique fait s’évanouir ; elle ouvre aussi une brèche dans les murs réels, bien trop réels que l’humanité dresse envers et contre elle-même.
Dans cette œuvre, la traversée symbolique des murs n’abolit pas la singularité de chacune de ces mains : toutes expriment une histoire et elles portent les marques subtiles d’appartenances multiples, qu’elles soient sociales, géographiques ou ethniques.
Au-delà des murs, dans cette farandole universelle, chaque singularité humaine se voit accorder un droit de passage et un droit de cité. L’universalité qui s’en dégage est celle d’une humanité plurielle.
Ce projet « Beyond Walls » traversera les frontières pour réaliser cette universalité latérale qui glissera de ville en ville tout au long de cette immense chaîne humaine.
Pour son projet planétaire, ses nombreuses mains entrelacées en noir et blanc sont faites à base de craie, de charbon et de la peinture biodégradable.
Cette œuvre de 630 mètres de long (soit plus de deux fois la hauteur de la Tour Eiffel) marque le début d’une longue aventure et d’une nouvelle page qui se tourne dans le travail de l’artiste. Socialement engagé, c’est un message d’espoir et d’optimisme que Saype souhaite envoyer au monde depuis la ville Lumière. Pour cette première étape de son projet Saype a choisi de soutenir l’association SOS méditerranée. Apolitique, l’association représente parfaitement les valeurs du projet « Beyond Walls » à savoir : l’entraide, la bienveillance et l’ouverture à l’autre.
In 2019 for the launch of his project "Beyond Walls", Saype asked me if I could lend him the Champ de Mars for a few weeks and I could not say no.
The "Beyond Walls" project shows intertwined hands, reaching out, clasping and uniting in a common effort beyond all those walls that separate humans and enclose them in a mental or geographical space.
Thus, the walls erected in the mentalities are revealed to be only fictitious partitions that the artistic imagination makes vanish; it also opens a breach in the real walls, all too real that humanity erects towards and against itself.
In this work, the symbolic crossing of the walls does not abolish the singularity of each of these hands: all of them express a history and they carry the subtle marks of multiple belongings, whether they are social, geographical or ethnic.
Beyond the walls, in this universal farandole, each human singularity is granted a right of passage and a right to live. The universality that emerges is that of a plural humanity.
This project "Beyond Walls" will cross borders to achieve this lateral universality that will slide from city to city along this immense human chain. For his planetary project, his many intertwined hands in black and white are made from chalk, charcoal and biodegradable paint.
This work of 630 meters long (more than twice the height of the Eiffel Tower) marks the beginning of a long adventure and a new page that turns in the work of the artist. Socially committed, it is a message of hope and optimism that Saype wishes to send to the world from the City of Light. For this first step of his project Saype has chosen to support the association SOS méditerranée. Apolitical, the association perfectly represents the values of the "Beyond Walls" project: mutual aid, benevolence and openness to others.
