Sunset Over Power Line Trail
This cache is the second in a series of six new caches on Yacum Hill, following the trail up the power line easement. Completing the entire series will take you on a hike from the parking area to the summit of Yacum Hill (where the bonus cache is located), which is about 1 mile each way with about 500 feet of elevation gain.
The first waypoint for this cache is a large, impossible-to-miss manmade object located at the posted coordinates. You will see a pair of yellow identification numbers on the manmade object, of the form STccc and LNKddd. You will use the numbers "ccc" and "ddd" to compute the coordinates for the cache container of this cache:
- N 43 00. ((ccc * 5) + 59)
- W 71 33. ((ddd * 8) + 18)
If you have computed the coordinates correctly, the last three digits of the north coordinates will sum to 22 and the last three digits of the west coordinates will sum to 21. You will arrive at the final location of this cache before you get to the posted coordinates of YHM #3.
Be prepared for your adventure:
- Bring your own pen!
- Wear appropriate footwear for the season! The trail under the power lines can be quite muddy or icy at times and involves crossing some small streams. There are also some extremely steep sections.
- There is little shade on sunny days; it would be wise to bring some water to drink.
