Geocache Description:

07 July 2022, 15:00 - 15:45

Guess what? July 7th is listed as being Tell The Truth Day. This unofficial holiday encourages people to always tell the truth, even if it is often times inconvenient and hard. So come tell your fellow geocachers what you really think of their caches, "more later" logs, and cache etiquette at another 3pm Geocaching Meet'N'Greet here at at Flippin' Pizza.

Geocaching events in the district have never been common happenings, but when COVID19 came they practically went extinct. That is why I decided that to shake things up by hosting these monthly GC/DC events.

Here is the deal on these GC/DC events... Once a month I will get off work, walk a block or so over to this Flippin' Pizza location, order me a beer, maybe a eat a slice, and see if anyone shows up to my geocaching event. If folks show up I will more than likely be here longer than the 45 minutes listed. If at 3:45 pm I am sitting there all alone with an empty log book, an empty beer cup, and an empty plate than I am heading over to catch the next Dale City - Washington Express Bus home.

PARKING: Just a block north of the event you will have great odds to find street parking around GSA's Central Heating Plant (12th and D Streets SW and 13th & C Streets SW). Meters cost about 6 quarters an hour around there, but there is some complicated pay app thing you can do. Feds like me are getting off work around this time and spots start opening up pretty quickly on the streets here. Just watch those street signs because around 4:30 pm certain sides of some road are forbidden to be parked on (That will get you a pretty pink $100 ticket too courtesy of District Parking Enforcement!). Also don't park at those red meters either because they are for people with handicap placards (unless you have one than go ahead).

There are a few garages too, but they could get expensive. Portals III on D Street is $20 for 3 hours, Portals 1 is next door to the event but I didn't see prices listed.

Smithsonian and LeEnfant Metro stations are a few blocks away each. Bikeshare station is next to the USDA south building, and if you feel really chipper you can rent one of the many scooters that are in piles on the sidewalks all over the city.

Special thanks to Manager Jermaine Bryant who has given me written approval to make this a monthly thing.
