Razvaline gradu Rožek stojijo nad vasjo Podturn na robu udorne jame Globočica, ki je varovala grad s pobočne strani. Grad se prvič omenja v virih leta 1249, gospodje Rožeški pa šele leta 1338. Prvotno je na tem mestu stal le zidan stolp, ki je nadzoroval starodavno pot iz doline reke Krke v Belo krajino. Vas se je razvila pod gradom kasneje, kar dokazuje tudi njeno ime Podturn. V času turških nevarnosti so grad razširili in dodatno utrdili. Na gradu je bivalo nižje plemstvo in zato v srednjem veku ni postal matični grad katere izmed plemiških družin. Od konca 17. stoletja je bil v lasti gospodov iz Soteske, ki so ga prepustili propadu.

The remains of Rožek casle are sitated above the the village of Podturn on the edge of Globočica cover-collapse sinkholewhich protected the castle from the hillside. The castle was first mentioned in literature in 1249 and the Lords of Rožek in 1338. A stone tower was originally all that stood in this location, watching over the ancient path from the Krka Valley to White Carniola. The village under the castle prospered later, a proof of which is its name Pudturn (under tower). In the time of Turkish invasions, the castle was expended and additionally fortified. Only petty nobility resided here, and for this reason the caszle did not become the main castle for any of the noble families. From the 17th century on, the castle was owned by the Lords of Soteska who left it to its demise.
