Geocache Description:

Welcome to Coshocton County, Ohio, home of Historic Roscoe Village, the Horse-drawn Canal Boat Ride, and the Three Rivers Wine Trail. To introduce you to some of the history and beautiful sights of our county, we created The Coshocton County Ring Geotrail. We have 300 beautiful ring-themed geocoins (“The One Ring to Rule Them All”) available for cachers that complete the trail. See the image gallery for a look at our coin.

We are hiding a total 45 caches in “Three Rings for the Elven Kings” -- Narya (Ring of Fire), Nenya (Ring of Water), and Vilya (Ring of Air). Details for each ring can be found below. To earn your coin, find any 15 caches (note: you must find a minimum of three caches in each ring), sign the physical log, and record the Ring word inside the cache on your passport. Once you finish, find the One Cache to Rule Them All then return your completed passport to the corresponding drop off location (see below) to claim your coin.

THIS CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES. There are two ways to locate the container:

THE EASY WAY

Locate CCR #02: Bilbo Baggins (GC9RZNC) and CCR #10: Frodo Baggins (GC9RX79) and obtain one-half of the coordinates affixed to the lids of both caches.

THE HARD WAY

The cache can be found at:

N canaphae° mîn eneg . odog tolodh tolodh   W tolodh mîn° leben tâd . leben enephae

This cache exists independent of our rings. You are looking for a small lock-n-lock container hidden in a mysterious way. Permission for the placement has been granted by J. R. R. Tolkien.

All cache coordinates were determined using waypoint averaging (100 points) on two different GPS receivers. While we worked to ensure the accuracy of our coordinates, please keep in mind that factors such as tree cover or signal "bounce" may come into play. Different receivers may result in different readings. Please carefully rehide each container where you found it. Many of our cache locations are open to the public and we want to maintain the integrity of each hide for all geocachers to enjoy. Thanks and have fun!

To get started, obtain a map passport, which identifies the caches located in each of the three rings. You can get yours by visiting the Coshocton Supply Co. or the Coshocton County Visitors Bureau website. Map passports will also be available for pickup at the hotel headquarters (see below).
