Geocache Description:

28 May 2022, 15:00 - 19:30

Saturday, May 28, 2022

3:00PM to 7:30PM

Pizza, games, prizes, and most importantly... geo-friends!

After a winter break, we are ready to kick off Spring-Summer-Fall for hopefully another fun year of almost-quarterly Game Night events. For this Spring event, we are gathering at Duman Lake County Park (Pavilion 10), hoping to have a new trivia-style game, Who Wants to Be a Geocacher-Extraordinaire, as well as offering (once again) our Geo-themed game based on Win, Lose, or Draw (last seen in Winter 2020). Check the event waypoints for various parking spots and other amenities near our event location.

Planned schedule:

3:00-3:30 - Meet and greet, sign up for games; contestants may make name tags (if you have a trackable nametag, you are encouraged to bring it)

3:30 - The pizza and drinks (and any other foods / snacks) will likely be available near the start of the event, so enjoy some food and geo-chatting while we make the final preparations for the game system to be operational.

Who Wants to Be a Geocacher-Extraordinaire debuts! (Games starting between 3:45 and 4:00 pm)

Based on the "Millionaire" game show originally hosted in the U.S. by Regis Philbin, our geocacher contestants will work their way up the board to see how close they can get to the "Extraordinaire" level (for prizes of course), by answering a series of multiple-choice geocaching-related questions. Of course we have some life lines available, so be sure you know which friends you can phone!

5:00 - Game reset and intermission; if food is still available, get refills for the next game!

Win, Lose, or Draw - Geo-Style! (5:30 pm, or later, depending on previous game schedule)

Two teams will go head-to head drawing and guessing clues based on geocaching related words and themes. This game debuted in the Winter event in 2020, and it is making a reappearance in our Spring event this year.

6:15 (or conclusion of Draw) - Final Trivia (tentative, time and prizes allowing) for anyone in attendance having not yet received any prizes during the earlier games

6:30 pm (or later) - We will go into clean-up, but geo-chatting as long as the park is open until the end of the day is up to you! Stay and chat as you wish. Thanks for coming to the Spring Game Night!

Depending on interest, various pre-game activities (including possible lottery-style drawing) may be used to determine the contestants for the planned games. We welcome both contestants and spectators alike! Come for the event smiley and stay for the fun of the games!

The Game Night series (past, present, future) is collected in one online resource:

Event location: The event will be held at Pavilion 10 (rented by us all day) of Duman Lake County Park, located off PA-271, in northern Cambria County, just northwest of the center of JAGA-land. For more information, see their park page here .

Duman Lake County Park is the only county-owned recreation park in Cambria County. The park grounds consist of 71 acres of wooded and open space. There are picnic pavilions, campsites, modern restrooms, horseshoe courts, volleyball courts, a basketball court, ball field area, an exercise trail and swings sets. The park adjoins 19 acre Duman Lake which is owned by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. The lake has a handicap fishing pier and is regularly stocked with trout. During the weekends from May 15th through September 15th, a miniature train and hay rides are offered for the public’s enjoyment.

Will Attend logs will be greatly appreciated to help us gauge the correct amount of food and drink that may be needed. Thank you!

See you there!
